The 48th annual WSOP 2017 started on May 30th in the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. A total of 75 events took place (including the main event) offering 75 WSOP bracelets up for grabs.
The Main Event
For the main event, The buy in is $10,000, each blind level lasts 2 hrs and has a 20 minute break after each level. It runs from July 8th and concludes July 22nd.
The winner takes $8,150,000 with the top 10 cashing over $1m each The minimum cash for 1084th is $15,000. You can view the full payout structure here.
A total of 7,221 entrants made it the 3rd largest in history. On day 2, 2,219 players returned and after 5 levels this was reduced to 1023.
Celebrity players that left early
Daniel Negrannu busted out with 7’s vs 6’s, losing to a flush on day 2. Other notable celebrities that were participating that didn’t survive to Day 3 were Phil Hellmuth, Chris Ferguson, Gus Hansen, Antonio Esfandiari, Joe McKeehen and Elky.
The 2016 title holder Qui Nguyen also busted out before day 3, losing a big hand with AJ vs AA. Phil Ivey was surprisingly absent from the event altogether.
